Plant oil abstract Copyright Mark Graf grafphoto.comI have been away from the blog for a week with either a bad stomach flu or I ended up with food poisoning last weekend. Feeling better now, but boy did it kick my butt.

So in some of my downtime I have been rumaging through all of my uncataloged images and trying to get them organized in Lightroom. I came across a few of these that I did awhile ago. Not sure why I am only now getting around to posting them because I like this kind of stuff a lot.

I suppose nature is the actual painter here, I am simply the docent.

Backyard Ferns and Jewelweed

Backyard Ferns and Jewelweed

Ideas for photos don't always align with my abilities to execute them. I feel like I should have that made into a t-shirt, given how many times I've thought it to myself. I may have an idea that I have a general concept of how I will develop it, but as they say, the...

Pixels to Paper

It's been one year since I returned to printing photographs at home with the replacement of my old, defunct Epson 4800 with a Canon Image ProGRAF 300 (great name 😉 ). The Epson was turned over to an electronics recycler and the Canon is slurping up delicious ink....

Catherine, this is pretty much a straight photograph of this natural occurance. The hard part is finding good patches of it.

I have missed several opportunities to photograph this oil because I misinterpreted it’s source. Thanks for setting me straight.

    Hey Mark,
I shot some oil that looks just like this at the front pond by the parking lot at HP. It was in a small pocket of water that branches off from the large pond. It was only there for a week or so and I’ve never seen it there before or since. I was in the Ann Arbor Art Fair and a botany student saw some of my images I have of this oil and told me she did a research paper on this oil and gave me some info about it.

Hey – I am going to have to look harder at Holland in the spring! This was actually at Kensington near the nature center. (hint, hint) 🙂
