Nikon D2X Reviewed

What is it about new camera introductions that turn internet forums into the Jerry Springer show? Over the past several days, a few reviews and commentaries have shown up on the net over Nikon’s new flagship camera the D2X. Immediately there are a flurry of postings either celebrating or being critical of the comments and reviews. Then the arguments ensue. It is difficult to know whether to be disgusted or entertained. This isn’t what photography is about. Apparently many still just don’t get it.

Bjorn’s review listed above is pretty thorough and provides many different perspectives. However, he went out on a limb and did a comparison against Canon’s flagship, which costs $2-3,000 more. His conclusions.. well, let’s just say it has caused a bit of a stir. :)

It does look like a great introduction for Nikon though, and very eagerly anticipated. Ultimately, it is good for everyone because competition fosters improvement everywhere. Everyone wins. I would love to see some very large prints for myself.

It is just a shame that this much energy isn’t directed toward actually improving photographs. Or perhaps we don’t need the competition..so let them argue away!
