Paul - I have had my D2X since around Feb 2005, I agree, it is a terrific camera. I don't regret spending the money on it, but do think it is still way too much for a camera body.

Mark. I had looked long and hard for a professional grade DSLR. I looked at the Canon and the Nikon and to be truthful, I've always wanted a Nikon, so I bought the D2X.

I've only had it for a few weeks, but it is a very nice camera. It's kind of a tank because it weighs so much. It's about 2.5 pounds without anything in/on it. Add to that a 500mm lens, battery, media card, etc. You get quite a monster. I rarely hand hold this beast and never with anything longer than about 70mm.

It has a comfortable fit, feels solid, has amazingly fast auto focus, and is an all around great camera. The 8 fps picture taking speed combined with the auto focus means very few missed opportunties for sports photography.

In short, I love it. Too bad that you aren't in NC, or I'd let you take it for a spin! :-)

Regards,

The Jerry Springer Show, eh? That's pretty funny. Well, I just purchased a Nikon D2X a few weeks ago, and let me tell you, it's worth every penny that I paid for it. Sure, it's a tank! It's pretty heavy, but the speed, responsiveness, features, etc. are well worth the price, at least for me.

There have been quite a few reviews of it, so you'll not get another one here. I looked to move to a professional grade camera for a while and there were only a couple of choices. One costing about 7K, the other 5K. I've used and liked both Nikon and Canon, but felt more comfortable with Nikon. I think that I made a great choice.

I got tired of Electronic View Finders and wanted to see through the lens, which is what brought me to the the Nikon. Sure, it has about a billion more features than I need, but it gets the job done. Too bad you're not in NC, I'd let you take it out for spin! :-)
