It was a great day! I have high hopes for an improved relationship with the environment. I couldn’t help thinking though while watching the coverage how great it would have been to photograph the event.
As far as improving the relationship with the environment goes I was a little annoyed at this excerpt from a story in the Wall Street Journal:
“According to an article in Bloomberg, as many as 600 private jets were expected to touch down in D.C. for the inauguration. The runway at Washington Dulles was closed Saturday to allow as many as 100 small planes to park. And the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority said it expected a total of 500 small jets to land from Jan. 16 through Jan 21.
“That would set a record, topping the 300 the airport accommodated for President George W. Bush’s 2004 inaugural,” an Airports Authority says in the article.”
Aside from the environmental impact it is nice to know hard times haven’t hit everyone…
I must say that I’m impressed with his move towards human rights for ALL, regardless of affiliation, creed, color, beliefs, etc. I was very happy to see him sign orders to get rid of those CIA torture camps, etc. He’s deconstructing those horrible policies that have been in force since 9/11. Time now to take a hard look at that Patriot Act!

Paul – and Paul – I couldn’t agree more.
Laurie – thanks so much. Interesting points about the jets!
