Back to the grind…stone
by Mark ~ May 15th, 2009. Filed under: abstracts, art, rock, stone. As much as spring energy is in the air, I am going to divert myself and concentrate on digging into my stock pile of rocks over the next week or so. I just love creating abstracts – discovering small patterns and relationships – symbolism of other worlds, other times. The energy of spring fuels my motivation – and perhaps my immersion in these abstracts will provide new ideas towards spring.
This shot is of a rock called Jelly Bean Jasper. from some private dig site in Oregon. I would have named it Fire Lava Jasper myself personally, but I guess I missed the boat on that one.

Hi, Mark -
I’m with you on this one – very evocative of primordial eruption!
Funnily enough, I just today came across the polarizing filter material I purchased ages ago on your recommendation – maybe this is a sign it’s time to finally do something with it… :^D

IMO too much impressionistic energy for something called “Jelly Bean.” Your suggestion seems more on target. It has an almost surreal look.

Very interesting abstract. I will look forward to seeing more rock abstracts in the week to come.

Hi Mark,
What a great abstract, it looks like the primordial creation of a new nebula or star system to me.

Hey Mark,
I really like these images (including the ones you posted as follow ups), but as of this posting, this one is my favorite. Very cool. I love the way you see, man, great stuff. And your comments on abstracts above is right on.
Cheers
Carl
